ABOUT MODEL AVIATION
Model Aviation promotes the hobby/sport of flying models and the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) through the dissemination of scientific, technical and general information.

Model Aviation covers the full spectrum of model aircraft—including Radio Control, Free Flight and Control Line aeromodeling with monthly columns, features, technical and “how-to” articles. Reader demographics are used to determine the contents of each issue. Therefore, Radio Control activities are emphasized, but all aspects of the hobby are covered. More than 96% of the AMA membership subscribes to Model Aviation. Most individuals who do not subscribe are members of families who receive the magazine.

Model Aviation has more than two times as many subscribers as any other modeling magazine. Although other magazines depend on newsstand sales, Model Aviation is delivered directly to the homes of more than 96% of our readers every month. Model Aviation’s circulation has grown steadily since the magazine’s founding in 1975, with a 2001 average circulation of 138,000. Call for current circulation figures.

NEW PRODUCTS
Each issue features information on new products available to the readers. We encourage all manufacturers to send us press releases (with an accompanying black-and-white photo) of their new product(s). Please do not send products to be built or tested. We cannot guarantee when, or if, all product information will be used. A maximum of two (2) items per manufacturer will appear each month. New products are included in the "Modeler’s Mall" section of Model Aviation.

AMA NEWS
Model Aviation carries a monthly section devoted to news about the organization. The section features reports by the President, Executive Vice-President, and all District Vice-Presidents. A calendar of AMA-sanctioned flying events, as well as reports of all rule change proposals and related FCC and FAA matters.

READER SURVEY
Model Aviation has conducted a number of reader surveys to determine the demographics of its readers. These survey results have remained remarkably stable over the course of several surveys. That information is summarized below. The age of our readers is evenly divided between 36 and 70 years of age. The highest percentage of readers (43%) are between the ages of 36 and 55. (The median age was determined to be 46). 35% of our readers hold jobs in managerial and professional positions; twenty-three percent are retired.
