City Council Recognizes

Junior FF Aeromodelers

Tim Chang receives his commendation from San Jose Mayor
Chuck Reed (L) and Councilman Pete Constant (R).

On Tuesday January 29, 2008, Chinmay Jaju received a plaque of commendation from the San Jose City Council in San Jose, California. He was recognized for his accomplishments in model-aviation competition.

Most importantly, Chinmay was acknowledged for making it onto the US Junior Outdoor FF World Championships team. He and his fellow team members will be traveling to Ukraine this summer for the competition.

The San Jose City Council gave Timothy Chang a similar commendation on September 25, 2007. He was awarded for numerous accomplishments in aeromodeling and for being a part of the US team that will participate in the Junior Indoor FF World Championships. The contest will be held in October 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia.

The AMA wishes the best of luck to all individuals who will be competing in the Junior World Championships!  MA

Chinmay Jaju, holding his F1P Manito, stands with Bill Vanderbeek—
one of many who has helped Chinmay in model aviation. "Chinmay could
not have done this without support, advice, and motivation from all the
great flyers of OCD [Oakland Cloud Dusters] and great teachers like Mr.
Vanderbeek and Mr. Young," wrote Chinmay's mother.
