This
year the application to enter the Leader
Club program was included with the 2006
Chartered Club renewal kit. Review the
document to see if your club can qualify for
one of the three levels.
You can download
the application from our Web siteit's
document number 708and take a look at last year's recipients. Your club could be listed
there too!
Contact Erin Dobbs at
erind@modelaircraft.org or (765) 287-1256, extension
272, for the information.
We currently have
six Silver Leader Clubs and 98 Gold Leader
Clubs. Congratulations to all of them!
Attention AMA Fellows: Did you know that
there are only 84 living AMA members who are
recognized as a Fellow?
Fellowship is the
highest award given for long and dedicated
service to AMA and model aviation.
This year
AMA has given this high honor a facelift. If
you are interested in replacing your old
award with one of the new ones, we will
provide this service for the cost of the
plaque. Please contact Erin Dobbs at
erind@modelaircraft.org.
As a member, are
you looking to recognize an individual for
his or her dedicated efforts to AMA and
model aviation? If you know of someone so
deserving of such an award, please let your
district vice president know. That person
could be considered for the AMA Fellowship
Award.
Remember, you must go to your
district vice president to have anyone be
nominated for such a high achievement. The
recipient will also receive a lifetime
membership to the Academy of Model
Aeronautics.
Contact information for your
district vice president is located in the
back of the magazine or on the AMA Web site.

Club charter renewal is well underway. By
the time you read this column, the majority
of the clubs will have been processed and
have their site certificates in hand. Check
with your club president to be sure your
club has renewed or go to the AMA Web site
to see if your club is listed.
AMA has more
than 2,400 chartered clubs, and some have
fields they must register for additional
insurance; other clubs have fields they own
and do not require this service. We ask that
you still provide AMA with the location of
your field or site.
Often we have clubs that
are located too close to one another, which
can cause frequency issues. In order to
avoid this type of situation, we must have
this information.
If you have not provided
it, please send a note to Lois Pierce, the
club secretary, at
loisp@modelaircraft.org.
Be sure to include your club's name, charter
number, and the fact that you are providing
us with this information but that you do not
require insurance coverage. Help us to help
you.
One Last Item: If you have changed your
E-mail address or just acquired one, let us
update your membership profile. You can
E-mail the change directly to
cpierce@modelaircraft.org.
Having an E-mail address
on file is the only way you can have access
to the Members Only section of the AMA Web
site, and it is a fast method of
communication if we need to contact you.
MA
Safe flying.
