| Baby Flea John Swetland (4783 Vaux Rd., Duluth, MN 55811; E-mail: jbswetland@earthlink.net) built this 1/3-scale Henri Mignet HM-16 Baby Flea from his own plans. The Baby Flea is a French homebuilt design from the mid 1930s. John based his plans on a drawing he obtained from the Flying Flea Archives USA. The model has a wingspan of 60 inches and a massive 1,232 square inches of wing area. It is covered with ThermalSpan and is painted with butyrate dope. The ink-jet-printed graphics are on light silkspan and doped into place. The model weighs 5.5 pounds and an Astro Flight AF-15 with a 3.69:1 gear drive motor running on 15 cells powers it. |
