Trooper

Ernest J. Zahner (57 Knott Dr., Glen Cove NY 11542) built this circa-1940 Trooper glider in 2001. He built his first Trooper as a teenager from a Junior Aeronautical Supply Co. kit. It had a wingspan of 36 inches.

Ernest enlarged the original plans to a span of 60 inches. This scaling allowed a perfect fit of his Futaba 7-channel receiver and two S3101 servos in the cabin area. The aircraft was modified slightly to the extent that the rather large lifting horizontal stabilizer was shortened by five inches and built as a flat-plate type. Ernest’s new Trooper weighs 20 ounces ready-to-fly.
