| Spad Lover Ted Stockert (1033 N. 29th St., Bismark ND 58501; E-mail: tstock11@bis.midco.net) has always loved Spads. The one pictured here was built from RCM plans by Bob Rich. It is highly detailed with handmade functional louvers and handmade scale Vickers machine guns. Even the wheels were fabricated by Ted. He wrote, “Scale-size wheels were not available commercially. I built a fixture to hold the parts in place while I assembled my own wire wheels.” The model is finished in the markings of Frank Luke’s 27th Aero Squadron, which Ted researched extensively. The cockpit combing and the headrest are made from real leather. |
