LT-25 Donald D. Runnells (8032 Allott Ave., Fort Collins CO 80525; E-mail: d.runnells@att.net) converted this Sig LT-25 to electric power. He built the model completely as per the kit instructions, but used a Model Electronics MEC Turbo 10 Plus electric motor in place of a .25 size glow engine. A MEC MX 80 speed controller was used, along with an APC 12 x 8 electric propeller and an MEC solderless 10-cell, 3000mAh Panasonic battery pack. At full throttle the system puts out approximately 350 watts at 32 amps. The ready-to-fly weight of the model is 4 pounds, 15 ounces. Donald wrote, “Flying from a field at 5,400 feet elevation above sea level, the airplane takes off in roughly 50 feet and has between 12 and 15 minutes of endurance with throttle management.” |
