AT-6 Donald A.J. Bastien (7344 West Eugie Ave., Peoria AZ 85381-6042) built this AT-6 Texan from a Top Flite Gold Edition kit. An O.S. 91FX 2-stroke engine was chosen for power and the model is covered with MonoKote. Donald chose to use a Futaba radio-control system and the model uses nine ball bearing servos. The model is fitted with Robart Robo-Struts, has a wingspan of 70 inches, and weighs 10-1/2 pounds. Also featured are working navigation lights and fully operational landing lights. Donald wrote, “It is a very close representation of the AT-6s that used to fly out of Luke Air Force Base back in the 1940s.” The model took 16 months to complete. |
