Northrop Gamma

Edgar B. Pease Jr., 30138 Corte Canterra, Temecula CA 92591) scratch-built this seldom-modeled Northrop Gamma from plans that were drawn from historical photos that he found in a library. The model was painted in the scheme of the Polar Star, which was the airplane used for the first aerial photographic exploration of Antarctica.

The 52-inch wingspan model is covered with MonoKote and is powered by an O.S. .40. Guidance is provided by a Hitec radio system.

“A concerted effort was made to keep weight down—it weighs only 4 pounds, 7 ounces, including five servos,” wrote Edgar.
