Four-Star Gary M. Malchus (310 S. 500 W., Milford UT 84751) wrote, “After many years of building ARFs, I went back to a stick-built model.” Gary sent this photo of his Sig Four-Star 120. The model weighs 16 pounds and is powered by a 20-year old Evra 1.90 gas engine made from a weed eater! A Zinger 18 x 8 propeller is used and the model is covered with MonoKote. The rudder was made 1 inch wider and 1 inch higher than stock and operational flaps were fitted. Because the engine is quite heavy, Gary reports that the model does lack a bit in vertical performance, but is a great flyer! |
