Remembered Dennis Hoffer (2705 Meadowland Ct., Olney MD 20832; E-mail: dhoffer@erols.com) sent in this photo of the late Frank Hoffer’s scratch-built Fokker DVa. It won first-place trophies at the 1983, 1984, and 1985 Weak Signals Toledo Show in the RC Sport Scale pre-World War II military class static display competition. Dennis wrote, “Mr. Hoffer was in our hobby for most of his life. He was a good example of the grassroots builder/flier. He flew at some contests, but most of his flying was for fun and he passed it along to as many people as he could.” According to Dennis, almost all of Frank’s modeling projects were original designs. Frank was a member of the Westlake RC Club in Westlake, Ohio. |
