Modified Quaker 2000

Hanns J. Bell (1803 Leary Ln., Victoria TX 77901) found plans for a 1937 FF Quaker 2000 design at the Festival of Giants in St. Charles, Illinois. He built the model from the plans but modified the design to accept a Futaba T6XA radio system. Other modifications include a bolt-on wing that was built in three parts.

The finished model has a flying weight of 8 pounds, and a wingspan of 104 inches. An O.S. FS-52 Surpass powers this model, and Hanns reports that it will lift off with a takeoff run of 3 feet, and that it flies roughly 10 mph at one-quarter throttle.
