Spring
is finally here and it's time to fly! We
still have a number of AMA members who have
not renewed their memberships for this year.
Clubs need to check their members for
current AMA cards.
If you know someone who
hasn't renewed his or her AMA membership,
encourage that person to do so. It is easy
and many methods to renew are available. Go
online at
www.modelaircraft.org, call our
toll-free number at (800) 435-9262, or mail
in the application that was sent out or is
published in the magazine each month.
Don't
get caught with an expired membership!
Chartered club renewal this year was not
without some problems. I want to thank club
officers for being patient and working
through all of the requirements necessary
for renewing their clubs' charters.
We still
have many clubs that have not renewed and
many clubs that did not provide all of the
necessary information. As of April we have
processed 1,924 clubs; there are still 576
that need to complete this process.
Clubs
that had errors concerning the data
submitted have been contacted by telephone,
E-mail, or regular mail. In order for your
club to be one in good standing, we must
have all the information requested.
We will
send a second notice to those clubs that
have not sent in any paperwork. If you check
the AMA Web site and your club is not
listed, it is likely that we have not
received your paperwork or there is a
problem with what was submitted. If this is
the case, please contact the club secretary
Lois Pierce at (765) 287-1256, extension
291, or
loisp@modelaircraft.org.
The
National Model Airplane Championshipsat
least the outdoor portion of the Natsis
scheduled for July 4 through August 6 this
year. Entry forms are available on the AMA
Web site or you can call or E-mail Yolanda
Jones at (765) 287-1256, extension 224, or
yolandaj@modelaircraft.org.
Be sure you
include your AMA number and the event(s) you
plan to enter. Events have deadlines, and
fees increase after the deadline, so enter
now and avoid those late fees.
Does your name appear on the Walk of
Fame? As I am writing this, more than 500
individuals, clubs, and organizations have
purchased bricks in the Walk of Fame, which
is located at AMA Headquarters in Muncie,
Indiana.
I will include portions of the list in my column until all
have been recognized. Check it out and see
who has supported the organization and will
have their names at AMA Headquarters for
life.
We offer three levels of donations: $100, $500, and $1,000.
The Walk of Fame is a great way to show
support for your favorite hobby and sport
for future generations. If you have
questions about this program, please send me
a note or give me a call and I will assist
you in any way I can. MA
Safe flying.
