Engine Exhibit
Power for model airplanes was initially provided by gravity; however, with the introduction of rubber in the 1870s, model airplane performance drastically improved. In the 1930s, the small internal combustion engine was introduced to the hobby and continues to be the primary source of propulsion. These cases contain an assortment of the museum’s collection of model engines.
The museum is always interested in acquiring additional engines for its collection. If you are interested in donating engines, please contact the museum registrar at (765) 287-1256 ext. 508. |
