The Restoration/Exhibit Fabrication Shop

In this section of the museum visitors first see the 1993 Academy of Model Aeronautics Membership roster and then, through a large window, can see musuem staff and volunteers working on a variety of projects in the shop.

In 1992 a fundraising campaign, focusing on the 1993 membership renewal, was initiated to raise money to complete the development of the International Flying Site and Museum Building.

Those individuals that renewed their memberships would have their names placed on a display honoring their contribution when the facility opened. If an individual donated an additional $10 or more, their name would appear in bold print.

The panels that line the walls of this room contain the names of those individuals.

The shop allows the museum staff and volunteers to restore models, build models needed for museum display, and build display cases and backgrounds.

Visitors can view the ongoing work through the shop window and speak to volunteers about their work.

One of the recent projects in the shop is a reproduction of Chris Soenksen's Hut Humper, an electrc powered, indoor, radio controlled model from 1969.
