AMA Youth: Our Future
Since its inception, AMA's Scholarship program has bestowed almost $800,000 to college-bound aeromodelers. Several are chosen every year. Their future and aeromodeling's next generation depend on your ongoing support.

National Model Aviation Museum: Our Past
The richly diverse history of model aircraft is on display at the Academy's 10,000-artifact museum at the International Aeromodeling Center, along with access to thousands of model plans, documents and library materials. Become a Museum Patron and help keep our history alive and relevant.

Club Assistance: Making it Work Today
With almost 2,400 clubs in virtually all cities of size in America, the AMA is dedicated to providing programmatic and financial support to its community-based groups through site improvement funding, site relief, legal assistance and other efforts. Your donations help this valuable work, year in, year out.

Planned Giving: Your Legacy & AMA’s
For generations, AMA has been the spirit and collective voice for American aeromodelers like you. Hopefully the Academy has earned consideration by you in your estate planning. Let us know how we can help you.

Commemorative Giving
Set up and promote giving to a memorial fund for a fellow aeromodeler who has recently passed away. It will support programs that inspire the next generation of aeromodelers. Or, purchase a brick on the AMA’s scenic Walk of Fame at the International Aeromodeling Center that honors you, your club or anyone that has supported model aviation over the years.

Spotlight

Frank Tiano of Lakeland, Florida, is an AMA Life Member and a member of the Model Aviation Hall of Fame. If asked about his modeling history, he would tell you that his story is not unlike other modelers.

He started modeling at four-year-old after his father noticed his fascination with airplanes. They began constructing hand-launched and rubber band-powered aircraft, and then moved on to plastic models followed by CL and FF airplanes.

In the early 1970s, Frank decided that he wanted to apply his love for model aviation to making a living. This started with writing articles for aeromodeling magazines. His pieces became popular; readers liked the sense of humor he included in the articles as well as the detail that only an avid modeler could provide.

Frank began working with a group of pilots to produce a new adhesive: Zap Glue. Frank continues to lead operations for one of three Zap Glue distributorships.

Frank has given back to AMA and model aviation by organizing and hosting four major annual model aviation events. The largest of the four, Top Gun, for expert Scale modelers, will celebrate its 25th anniversary in May.

Frank has donated to several AMA funds throughout the years. He has given because he feels Academy serves its members well at a low cost, and he appreciates it. Frank usually donates when he signs up for a competition.

His donations truly make a difference, and as he said, “Every little bit counts.” When asked what he would tell other AMA members and potential donors why they should support AMA, he paraphrased a famous quote from Winston Churchill, “Never in all your modeling life will you ever come across a group of people that has done so much, for so many, for so little.”

The AMA appreciates Frank and all of the Academy’s supporters. Donations in 2012 were up 27% and, with support from you, we hope to continue to build AMA’s charitable programs.
